U street offers a variety of different bars, clubs, and lounges that you can just throw jeans and a T-shirt on and your set. NE H street is an up and coming development area that offers a variety of diverse places to go to where you can hear DJ’s and live bands. K street wants NO part of this. There are several places on K street including Lotus Lounge, Tattoo, and K street lounge that have invented their own style of nightlife. Its called being a Douchebag. These clubs have some of the most stuck up asshole bouncers throughout the DMV. They hold up the front line on purpose to portray the image that people are trying to get into the club. This means you can be in line waiting for up to 45 minutes and when you get in, there are only 7 people at the bar inside. If a hostess at a restaurant did this, you would spit in the their face. All of these places offer a bottle service. Bottle service? I still don’t get this. You cant walk 10 feet over to the bar an order a drink? This also hurts the DJ in the sense that people get there own roped off table area which is taking dance floor space. Also, people are sitting around chatting and texting away. It really hasn’t been said but there is a social class form of discrimination in these places. If you don’t have the proper outfit, You will not be given access. If you don’t reserve a table, you will be forced to wait outside in line. The DJ’s don’t take any chances at these places. The same chessy electro/autotune mash ups. They are still dropping Kid Cudi mixes like it just came out of the studio. Its the same Ed Hardy culture and mind set of the people who go there. They are out of tune and don’t have a free thinking bone in their body. They figure if they go to a place where they have to wait in line for 30 minutes and pay $12 for a watered down drink they must be doing something right? The women at these places are wearing the same black dress. I like a black dress but everyone is wearing one. It looks like a Jim Jones Cult! If you are going to go out anywhere on K street, I would suggest Lima which has a great happy hour especially in the outside area. I have gone there several times dressed like my usual jackass self and didn’t catch shit from anyone. I have also heard good things about the Park but have never been there. I tried but my Reebok Pumps didn’t impress them.
Park looks good on the outside, but there have been many nights where I am coming home from class, and I see the same douchebag treatment from K st repeated there! People waiting outside for god knows what, the same Ed Hardy shirt cult jackasses just taking up spaces on the sidewalk.. I agree with you about the girls in the little black dress, truth is about 80% of them look good (if you consider spraying perfume on a lump of shit..then that’s good i guess), 20% actually LOOK good and they aren’t the ones that are truly playing the part that their paychecks can’t provide. I should have diplomatic immunity to tase these people on my way home. Most of the time, especially with the girls that go to these clubs, i play the game ‘Club Girl, hooker, or Tranny”, and the funny thing is.. I’m never wrong on the judgement calls.
I have to try Lima, too many people are telling me it’s good.. I wonder if they’ll let me in with my chuck taylors..
