Sometimes you forget about steak and sizzle when a guy as hilarious as Jake Komara (Formerly known as Reed Rothchild) is all about bacon and eggs. Pittsburgh born, Maryland residing and DC representing, decade-long spinner Komara is one of the nation’s most unexpected party starters. His unique and acerbic wit along with genre shifting abilities covering Baltimore club to moombahton and electro led to him being a popular resident DJ at multiple DC locales.

As his notoriety began to grow, Jake created the blog Head of Rothchild (www.headofrothchild.com) to promote his DJing and share thoughts about the EDM industry in “the most brutally honest but funniest way possible.” Now three years later, the site has morphed into not only a breeding site for discovering new music, but a playground for Jake and his writers to skewer the industry and promote Jake’s other great love…bacon. Head of Rothchild currently boasts thousands unique visitors a month, a staff of four writers, and can lay claim to viral notoriety. HOR’s articles have been featured everywhere from Beatport to Factmag, and raved about by EDM artists like Riva Starr, Delta Heavy and Lee Mortimer.

Building off the site’s burgeoning success, Jake started to look for new ways to fuse his love of music with his love of bacon. He began hosting web series “Cooking With Jake” – a bacon-centric Youtube show featuring guests artists like Starks & Nacey – and founded DC’s annual Moombacon Massive, where bacon, fried chicken and condoms are all given away throughout the night.

The combination of bass-heavy DJing, riotous writing on Head of Rothchild and unparalleled love of bacon has given Jake a cult following, allowing him to play major festivals like Starscape and share bills with artists like Borgore, Skrillex, Bassnectar and Boys Noize. Whether tossing bacon strips to ravers or documenting the most absurd extremes of the underbelly of society, Jake Komara isn’t off the beaten path, he’s creating his own.
