Mixtape Monday ft. “OC Mixtape Series #4″ by Brenmar

WHAT UP YALL! It’s Mixtape Monday and I got that good good for ya.  In other words, here’s some more tunes you can listen to while you watch Reed Rothchild as he exposes super douches on The Internet.  This week, we’re listening to Brenmar’s mix for the OC Mixtape Series (Opening Ceremony).  This jawn has a little bit of everything for all you club heads out there.  ”OC Mixtape Series #4″ flexes tons of club remixes, old school hip-hop revivals, smooth R&B for ya inner ho, and of course, some Brenmar originals.

If ya don’t know, Brenmar was born in Chicago and now resides in New York City.  He creates “club music for the present.”  Info on this dude is real limited but really, all ya gotta know is that he’s the dopeness.  But if you’re curious and want to know more about his hopes and dreams, check out the interview Opening Ceremony did with him to accompany this mix.

I get real excited when I see ignorant hip-hop in mixes.  Cause I’m an asshole.  And I thought Soulja Boy was gonna light off my inner hood rat, but that “My City” track is surprisingly pleasant.  You gotta listen all these dope ass club tracks to get to the hood shit like Young Jeezy and Titty Boi.  So really, it’s a win-win.  It’s like eating a bowl full of Lucky Charms and saving the marshmallows for the end.

The club tunes in this mix are top notch.  He sets it off with a proper Baltimore shout out via Murder Mark’s future club sounds in “Last Call (Instrumental)”.  And you’re gonna need Brenmar’s “Let Me Hit Dat” in your collection of club tunes/fuck-all-night soundtrack.  And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Look out for those old school hip-hop revivals, too.  TLC’s “Silly Ho (ZUTZUT Refix)” is on point.  Just like the original track from Fanmail, it’s understated but just straight up vulgar as hell.  And act like you didn’t need an updated version of Ginuine’s “Pony” via the Black Market Slowride Mix.  It’s all good, homie.  I know you’re groovin’ to it right now wit yo sex face on.  Just let it ride.

Anyway, keep it ignorant, yall.  See ya next week.

Mixtape Monday ft. “The Fall Mix 2011″ by Willy Joy

Willy Joy

Morning, yall.  If you feel anything like me right now, your head is still pounding from all that Jameson you drank this weekend and your morals are lookin’ a bit questionable.  But I’m saying…why stop the party?  Let’s keep it movin’ and groovin’ with a bunch of tunes to send you into some violently drunken flashbacks of your weekend.  Don’t be scared.

This week I’ve got an hour-long mix from Willy Joy, a DC-via-Chicago resident.  This is a mix he made specifically for this fall (hence, the title) and since we’re knee-deep in autumnal glory, I figured it’d be a good time to get yall familiar with this one.  Take a look at the tracklist below and you’ll see this mix is packed full of some amazing electro tunes from Canblaster, French Fries, and the likes, as well as moombahton out the ass from JWLS, Nadastrom, Tittsworth, and more.  And in between alla dat, you can listen to tracks on tracks on tracks of Willy Joy’s own productions.  (Little secret – I’m particularly fond of “Gimme Dat”).

“The Fall Mix 2011″ is a little something you could put on this morning that will keep you from injuring your coworkers (at least for an hour) or something you can bump later this weekend before you head out to paint the town red (or something).  Go ham widdit!
