Yup, that picture above basically sums up another successful Moombacon Massive.  I just want to thank everyone who came out, ate, drank, and danced their ass off til 3am with us.  It really means a lot to see everyone come together from the dedicated HOR heads to the people who came just to check it out.  So much work goes into doing these so to have it pop off like it did was totally worth it and looking forward to doing it next year.  Shoutout to all the DJ’s: Denman, Racecarbed, Phetish, Plymouth Prowler Boys, Say Wut, Dirty South Joe, Mc Shawn Lucas, and the great Scottie B.  Thanks to Stoopgirl over at Cool Breezy/HOR and the Ribs Boss, 814ofCourse.  Now that the Thanks you’s are done, lets look at some of the photo’s.  These are just a few that Seannie took.  You can see the rest here.

Moombacon Massive is September 2nd

Whats starting to become the Labor Day Weekend tradition in DC, the HOR original, Moombacon Massive is back and this time we spared no expense in making sure we have the best lineup in DC Sunday night.  We’ve teamed up with Cool Breezy to give give you the most diverse, talented, well known DJ’s from Philly to Baltimore, along with our own home grown DC cream of the crop.  As always, the event is at Rock and Roll Hotel with doors open at 9PM and going until 3AM.  those who come early will be rewarded with FREE Thick-cut Bacon, FREE Fried Chicken, and FREE Condoms (if you’re into using those rubber cockblockers).  Get it while it lasts because it doesn’t last very long.

Mixtape Monday ft. “The Dingos Trapped My Baby” by Dirty South Joe

Whether you’re a ride-or-die Horrior or just a plain ol’ Internetter passin’ through, I hope you didn’t miss yesterday’s announcement for Moombacon Massive III!  Spoiler alert:  Dirty South Joe is bringing his trill ass down from Philly to headline the third installment of this infamous, cholesterol-ridden event.  Not only will there be twenty pounds of bacon, but there will also be riot-inspiring performances by Scottie B, Say Wut, Plymouth Prowler Boys and HOR DJs Phetish P, DENMAN, and that one guy, Jake Komara.  In true HOR fashion, you’re probably gonna get your feelings hurt.

Speaking of hurt feelings, how ’bout this mix from Dirty South Joe?  The co-creator of Luvstep, curator of Mad Decent Mondays, and an all-around expert in keepin’ it real, Joe just came back from tour in Australia and this is the mix he made to get those Aussies ready for the hood life.  If there’s anybody who knows about Hood Classics (and beyond), it’s Dirty South Joe.  I mean, obviously.  His mixes always make me question everything I know because he’ll throw in all these remixes that somehow totally elevate the original and I’m left there with my jaw on the floor crying out “DAMN, JOE, WHERE’D YOU FIND THIS?”

So, “The Dingos Trapped My Baby” is no different.  Over an hour in length and packing more trap music than you can shake a stick at, this mix will stay in rotation for a while.  At least until he blows your damn mind at Moombacon Massive.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This joint took me a good 4 days to recover so either I’m getting old fast or this shit was Bonkers. A million thank you’s to everyone who came out to eat, drink, and rage themselves retarded Sunday night in 20 degree weather. Just about everyone I saw there was some how connected to the H.O.R. family which is awesome and humbling at the same time. Thanks to 814ofcourse for making the ribs which lasted about 20 minutes and for good reason. Also shout out to POPS and SHINNY cameras for helping out with the mics and photos. Thanks to all the DJ’s who gave their Holiday Sunday to come out and wreck shop. Special thanks to Shawn at Ov3rkill Entertainment and Molly over at One Love Massive who helped promote this event with me. I was blown away at the fact we had an event on H St and had all of our own people there which allowed us to play the music like and throw the kind of party we want. Ayo it’s ya girl STOOPGIRL in da heezy.  I’ma keep it way short this week because my life is still hurting from Moombacon Massive last night.  I know yall made it out to Rock & Roll Hotel last night, right?  Not only was it totally bananas, but thirty pounds of bacon had been consumed by midnight.  THIRTY POUNDS.  Not to mention all the ribs and chicken – GONE.  I know yall had to be hurtin’.  Jumpin’ around the dance floor with mad swine in ya stomach.  Washin’ it all down with PBRs, too.  Man.  We’ve got some true ragers in the HOR Camp.

Lucky for yall, I made it out alive last night.  I’m proud to say that I survived another Moombacon Massive.  But um, yeah.  Not tryin’ to hear any loud noises or see any kind of sunlight for the rest of the month, ya dig?

So the mix I have to for ya today, Drop The Lime’s “Winter (Afterhours Mix)”, is the perfect way to enjoy life with the lights down low.  Drop The Lime packed this mix full with tried-and-true old school vibes from across the board – blues, rock, reggae, and electronic tunes.  ”Winter” is real deep and cinematic – something you want to feel while you’re driving home late at night.  And when Bruce Springsteen’s “State Trooper” hits in it’s particularly haunting way, you know you’re on the the most important ride of your life right here.  And there’s no quitting ’til it’s over.

The Return of Moombacon Massive

January 15th, The Superbowl has come early this year. The Moombacon Massive was one of the funnest times I had last year sending Summer off properly with a grease orgy of swine and dancing.  There was not one single fatality reported which is a success for an H.O.R. party.  This time we’re doing the winter edition so we can use the FREE BACON, FREE FRIED CHICKEN, AND FREE RIBS as a tool to fatten us up for the cold 2 months ahead.  Kind of like how a Walrus does before swimming down to Antarctica.

The last Moombacon Massive

Glad to have our DC partners in Swine to jump aboard and help up us with the event that being  One Love Massive and Ove3kill Entertainment. Please support our friends who make DC Douche Free.  So to get you out of the house and into Rock & Roll Hotel we decided to up the ante.  This time instead of 20 pounds of bacon, we are going with 30 POUNDS of BACON.  We are also having a combination fried chicken from the Red Rooster and a special V.I.P. section (Very Important Popeyes) that we will be giving away leading up to the Massive. Our fam DJ 814ofCourse is going to be laying down his secret ribs recipe that destroyed it last time.  Seriously, those joints lasted about 30 mins until they were gone. But of course, FREE CONDOMS, if you’re into using those….  Now that the food tables are set, lets check out what we got on the turntables.

Moombacon Massive

Exciting news!  Nobody died!  But I heard super high cholesterol and clogged arteries are silent killers and something you won’t discover until it’s way too late and you’re lying on a cold hospital stretcher surrounded by strange doctors who have no idea what to do with your fat, dying heart.  With that being said, it wouldn’t be Reed Rothchild’s Birthday Celebration if it didn’t include twenty-two pounds of bacon, sixty pieces of assorted fried chicken parts, and racks on racks on raaacks…of ribs.  I made it out of Moombacon Massive alive with great news:  bacon, fried chicken, and ribs all taste better when they are consumed in the club.  Just as I thought.  Thank the Holy Rothchild.

Just in case any of us were concerned with a healthy heart, which I doubt any of us were because our brains were sloshing around our skulls in a pool of PBR and Ed Hardy Champagne, we were able to work off a lot of those calories on the dance floor.  Lucky for us, Reed Rothchild compiled a super official line-up of some of his dopest DJ friends to keep everything rage-tastic.

Once everyone was well-fed and on their way to optimal intoxication, DC’s Denman (Destination), Baltimore’s Uncle Jesse (Crossfaded Bacon) and James Nasty (Physical Education) built up the night to its pinnacle with some of their finest dubstep, moombahton, and Baltimore club tunes.  Then Baltimore’s King Tutt and Scottie B (Unruly Records), Keenan & Smudge (R&R), and Reed Rothchild himself straight killed the latter part of the evening with MOAR BANGERS.

(pronounced /ˌmoom-ba-con ma-siv) El cuatro de Septiembre – That’s a little insider talk for SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 4TH, ROCK & ROLL HOTEL the greatest gathering of music and swine lovers throughout the area will unite for an event so epic, scholars will look back and refer to it as the Moombacon Massive 2011. TV Party DC, One Love Massive, Steez Promo, and the Head of Rothchild have combined forces to bring you a lineup of DJ’s that are certified party smashers that will dish out raging from open to close. Baltimore Club legend Scottie B along with King Tutt, Uncle Jesse, and James Nasty will be waving the Bmore flag throughout the night. Reppin DC is Smudge, Keenan, Denman, and that dude Rothchild. Expect to hear nothing but the best cuts of Club, Moombahton, Dubstep, Hip Hop, and other goodies from the area’s best.

If that hasn’t pushed all your chips into the middle of the table I’ve decided to up the ante being this is my 30th birthday party. DJ 814ofcourse and I are firing up the bacon cannon with stacks and stack of FREE BACON. DOn’t dig on swine? How dare you, luckily we are bringing in FREE FRIED CHICKEN. The bird is indeed, the word. Also, for any of you sailors out there fear not, for we are also giving away FREE CONDOMS. I don’t know if people still use these rubber cockblockers but you’re more than welcome to them. If not, we plan on using them as balloon decorations anyway.

This is also a get together to kick off the re-launch for this very Blog.  September 6th we are giving the place an extreme makeover along with new contributors and weekly bits for your media consumption.  It would mean the world to me to see all of your swine loving faces there as we tell Summer to fuck off in glorious H.O.R. fashion.  In trying to go above in beyond I do have sad news to report that Ziplok, Atrophy, and Silver G have all declined to appear.  Maybe next time……
