Otto & George may be one of the darkest comics I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. It’s also why he’s one of my favorite. A hilarious and filthy ventriloquist act where Otto sets up lines for his puppet George Dudley. He started doing his act as a kid on the streets of Manhattan back in the early 70′s. In radio interviews (on the Opie and Anthony show) he tells amazing stories about working on the streets of New York from George the puppet getting stabbed with a knife to John Lennon giving him $20.

Other than occasional radio appearances it was hard to get Otto and George stand up in DC since a lot of the shows he did were in the New York and New Jersey area. It wasn’t until I saw the movie “The Aristocrats” when I got to see him tell his version of the famous Aristocrat joke.

Fucking hysterical. His joke was the best part of the movie and it’s not even close. One notable aspect of his ventriloquism is that his lips still move while he speaks with the George voice, but the illusion of there being a different speaker is made with the sharp contrast in the George voice with his own. When people think of ventriloquist acts, the first name who most people say is Jeff Dunham who I think he is fucking terrible. Like Carrot Top terrible. A couple years ago he did Letterman which was interesting because he couldn’t curse but they still killed it.

Like most comics who came up through the 80′s and 90′s, he has some amazing stories of traveling on the road that he recently talked about on a podcast with Jim Florentine. If your at work or chilling out around the house I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND you give it a listen.
