Moombacon Massive

Exciting news!  Nobody died!  But I heard super high cholesterol and clogged arteries are silent killers and something you won’t discover until it’s way too late and you’re lying on a cold hospital stretcher surrounded by strange doctors who have no idea what to do with your fat, dying heart.  With that being said, it wouldn’t be Reed Rothchild’s Birthday Celebration if it didn’t include twenty-two pounds of bacon, sixty pieces of assorted fried chicken parts, and racks on racks on raaacks…of ribs.  I made it out of Moombacon Massive alive with great news:  bacon, fried chicken, and ribs all taste better when they are consumed in the club.  Just as I thought.  Thank the Holy Rothchild.

Made from 100% Douchebag Tears

Just in case any of us were concerned with a healthy heart, which I doubt any of us were because our brains were sloshing around our skulls in a pool of PBR and Ed Hardy Champagne, we were able to work off a lot of those calories on the dance floor.  Lucky for us, Reed Rothchild compiled a super official line-up of some of his dopest DJ friends to keep everything rage-tastic.

DC!!!

Once everyone was well-fed and on their way to optimal intoxication, DC’s Denman (Destination), Baltimore’s Uncle Jesse (Crossfaded Bacon) and James Nasty (Physical Education) built up the night to its pinnacle with some of their finest dubstep, moombahton, and Baltimore club tunes.  Then Baltimore’s King Tutt and Scottie B (Unruly Records), Keenan & Smudge (R&R), and Reed Rothchild himself straight killed the latter part of the evening with MOAR BANGERS.

Hopefully we’re all still alive next year to celebrate Reed Rothchild’s born-day with more gr33zy, fried foods.  But until then, keep your eyes on Head of Rothchild for more details about our forthcoming Internet Takeover.

Steez Promo Presents: MEGA DC

Just now got my legs under me after being a part of one of the most amazing events in my life, Starscape, Steez Promo is giving a proper follow up in our own backyard. FRIDAY, JUNE 17th another night for the memory books is going down at Ibiza with some of my all time favorite DJ’s. The only reason I ever got into DJing is because of Scottie B. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to be on the same bill with him.

The awesome people over at HIPSTER OVERKILL are getting in on the action as well. Uncle Jesse, Alvin Risk and I are going to be giving you the shit show rager that you had at Starscape.

My love for dubstep was reborn on Saturday after spending the majority of the night on the beach stage. Flux and Doctor P literally made the bridge shake with bass. At least thats what my mind was telling eyes (I cannot discuss further). What a treat to get them play in the main room at Ibiza. Alex, Ill take bass for a thousand.

According to my dude Smash Gordon, ticket sales have come out of the gate blazing so don’t get left behind ESPECIALLY if you got left behind at Starscape. This is the last good thing going on until Summer Massive. ORDER YOUR TICKETS HERE NOW BEFORE THEY SELL OUT!

Whip out those Calandars

So glad to only be working 1 night this month after a going hard in the paint ever since Spring Massive. Get to relax, regroup, and reheat all the leftovers. Quick reminder the one date I’m playing in DC is on Friday May 20th at Little Miss Whiskeys as we retire the Reed VS Reed epic battles and like a Phoenix rising from it’s ashes we are throwing a new theme called “OBEY REED” Look for the flier and event page to come soon as we are bringing it hard, right up your shit pipes and through your ears as we bring you the best in Hip Hop, Dirty South, Club, maybe sprinkle a little Moombahton, and throw a bone or two to some of the “Capitol Hill” peoples who swing through but probably not.

You ready for Starscape!? This event has gotten so fucking Bonkers that there is no flier for it anymore. ITS AN ACTUAL WEBSITE now. 4 stages of music with the worlds best DJ’s going down in about a 12 hour or so period. Don’t sleep on tickets because it SOLD OUT last year. I remember hearing a lot of stories last year about people going to the ticket gate and were turned away. That speaks volume for the domination put on by Steez Promo. June 4th! Save that date!

GET YOUR TICKETS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I have NEVER seen a lineup that fierce in this area. EVER

Friday June 17th, Steez is bringing the Bass to our front step here in DC with another lineup that would make Chris Reeves jump out of his chair and rage, if only for a second before violently smacking his face on the ground. I am so excited for this because I get to play with my idol, my influence, basically the reason all this shit exists with what I do, SCOTTIE B is playing that night which is FUCKING AWESOME and a privilege that I get to be on the same bill as him. Another major event from Steez right here in DC and nothing spells streed cred like another official website for an event, BONG!!

Wednesday Go To Mix

Be totally honest, I have been in a musical funk the last couple weeks. I went through and deleted over 1700 tracks of house, big room, uk, electro, all of that stuff. Don’t know what it is but it’s tiring to me at this stage of the game. With that said of all the folders I went through and burned, not a single track left my Baltimore Club folder. Then late Monday into early Tuesday I heard Lolleatta Holloway passed away. MAJOR BUMMER, RIP. Tuesday DJ King Tutt goes on twitter and says he has a track that he did over a year ago using her sample. Next thing you know my inbox gets blessed with the joint (HAHA QUINCY!) Shit is total fire. It got me in the mood to pull up some of his old mixes along with what he did with the Chavy Boys which brings me to this oldie but goodie mix. There are other ones Tutt has that are absolutely bannanas but the links are dead. Here is a Chavy Boys mix they did for XLR8R.  TUTT Said he has a mix he’s working on now and you best believe that shit is gonna get posted up here so no worries, I gotchu.  Although this is may be an older mix it still captures that great Baltimore Club feel to it which is what made me want to be a DJ to begin with.  Everyone is trying to reinvent the wheel mashing every possible style and genre into one.  At the end of the day at least to me anyway, Simple is better, back to basics.

Scottie B!

In case you haven’t noticed through blog posts, tweets, and Facebook postings that Scottie B is one of my favorite DJ and Producers. (Top 2). Whether you see him play live in person or just watching youtube clips of him, it always seems like the energy level is at its highest when Scottie is playing. I grew up listening to Baltimore Club in the mid 90′s staying in Saturday and recording live 92q broadcasts tin foiling the shit out of my radio antenna to get a reception. Watching a crowd get into a Baltimore Club set will make me smile more than any other genre. I saw someone posted this clip from him playing at Whartscape in Baltimore. Love how everyone is gettin LOOSE! Someone also mentioned the Peep game at dude dancing around the 1:00 mark with a beard and wife beater. LoL Fuckin goin in!

Catch Scottie B playing this Wednesday night at Uhall for the StereoFaith benefit. You better be there!

Scottie B: The Golden Era of Club Music

There are a lot of associations that come to mind when it comes to Baltimore. Baseball you have Cal Ripken, Football is Ray Lewis, even beer you think National Bohemian. When you think about music the first person that comes to mind is Scottie B and Unruly records. Going clubbing in DC the first thing we would do is turn it 92Q as they were doing a live broadcast and from what I can remember correctly was either from Hammerjacks or Club International (around 1995). There would be some nights when we would park in front of the club in DC waiting for the 92Q live club mix to end before going in that’s just how pumped the music got us. There are many others in charm city who also helped start the movement such as Technics, Kenny B, Rod Lee, KW Griff, Booman, Dukeyman, Dj Class, Samir, Jimmy Jones, DJ Freeze, 2 whyte Kidz, and forgive me for not having all of them but those are the artist who first come to mind. Recently Scottie has reached deep down in the crates and shared a 3 piece installment called the Golden era of Club music. It includes 3 zip folders of rare treasures from the early years of club music. Its quite a treat for any club music enthusiast and shows how today’s music is very much influenced from the old club style breaks. Download the golden era of club music down below but DONT download them until you add the Scottie B music page on facebook.
