This week on Mixtape Monday, I’ve got a little somethin’ to keep you in that Friday Night State of Mind. Mishka’s Keep Watch mixtape series comes correct with the very best in EDM and has explored the world to feature some of the dopest DJs and producers out there, from LA’s 12th Planet to Italy’s Crookers to DC’s own Nadastrom. For their 29th Edition of Keep Watch, they have one of Netherland’s finest DJs and producers, Bart van der Meer, aka Bart B More.
Bart B More recently came through Baltimore with Laidback Luke and pretty much melted the faces off hundreds of unsuspecting ravers. I was there. It was pretty epic. The “B More” moniker has nothing to do with the city of Baltimore and his sound is in no way related to our sound, but he does really well with those bass-heavy rage tunes you hear at Steez Promo parties and the like. ”Keep Watch XXIX” just gets better and better as it progresses so trust me on this one. You’ll hear plenty of Bart B More originals and remixes stuffed in between moar high energy bass tracks that are probably gonna rip your speakers to shreds. No big deal. Mondays suck anyways.

If you wanted to work for any Company, hitting up the decision makers via Facebook chat isn’t the best way to try and cram your foot through the door. Lets just say an “anonymous” employee at Steez has pulled a brinks trucks up to the H.O.R. filled with conversations of Facebook chats, Emails, and god willing, AIM messages of people demanding that they get put on the bill for the next Steez show. TV Party DC, One Love Massive, Steez Promo, and the Head of Rothchild have combined forces to bring you a lineup of DJ’s that are certified party smashers that will dish out raging from open to close. Baltimore Club legend Scottie B along with King Tutt, Uncle Jesse, and James Nasty will be waving the Bmore flag throughout the night. Reppin DC is Smudge, Keenan, Denman, and that dude Rothchild. Expect to hear nothing but the best cuts of Club, Moombahton, Dubstep, Hip Hop, and other goodies from the area’s best.
If that hasn’t pushed all your chips into the middle of the table I’ve decided to up the ante being this is my 30th birthday party. DJ 814ofcourse and I are firing up the bacon cannon with stacks and stack of FREE BACON. DOn’t dig on swine? How dare you, luckily we are bringing in FREE FRIED CHICKEN. The bird is indeed, the word. Also, for any of you sailors out there fear not, for we are also giving away FREE CONDOMS. I don’t know if people still use these rubber cockblockers but you’re more than welcome to them. If not, we plan on using them as balloon decorations anyway.
This is also a get together to kick off the re-launch for this very Blog. September 6th we are giving the place an extreme makeover along with new contributors and weekly bits for your media consumption. It would mean the world to me to see all of your swine loving faces there as we tell Summer to fuck off in glorious H.O.R. fashion. In trying to go above in beyond I do have sad news to report that Ziplok, Atrophy, and Silver G have all declined to appear. Maybe next time……

Got another big one coming up in DC the first week of August. The fellow bacon loving folks over at Steez were kind enough to ask have me be apart of MEGA. Last month’s MEGA popped off hard as fuck! Tickets for the last one sold out at the door so if you’re planning on going I suggest your order them online that way you can strut into Ibiza care free. Usually I don’t address negativity or people saying bad things about a venue but in this case I feel it’s necessary considering some of the issues that were had last time. The reason I want to address them is because they have been RESOLVED. The line issue has been FIXED. You will not be spending hours waiting in line. Have to admit it was pretty crowded in there last month but that issue has been FIXED. They lowered the capacity by 500 people and are opening the newly remodeled rooftop. Last thing is the price of water. This issue has been FIXED. they lowered the price of water and you WILL NOT be paying $7 for bottled water. That was the first time Steez had an event there and every issue has been addressed. I trust Steez enough to cosign on it about every concern being resolved and you should to. Natti Boh and Bacon Cupcakes, why Baltimore is the greatest city on earth
In fact it was such an amazing weekend that I just now fully recovered from it. Kicked off Friday night in Adams Morgan with the weekly spot I play in which I literally unplugged my laptop at 3am, got paid out and went straight to bed (shut up Nan) to rest up for the Summer Massive at Bourbon St in Baltimore.
DJ 814ofcourse and I got about 10 pounds of bacon from Safeway in addition to the Wild Boar bacon we had. To celebrate Quincy’s birthday we put together some bacon cupcakes. Our crew rolled into Bourbon St with about 4 full size Ziplock bags of bacon. It’s always weird going to events and doing the artist check in with security as they go through our bags and keep pulling out bacon. Good news is that every place I go to, security loves the rave bacon! I had a blast as usual doing this event with Steez Promo and being able to hang out with the Baltimore Fam who have gone above and beyond in making 2011 a year ill never forget.

I was so glad I got to finally see DJ/Producer J. Rabbit from New York play. Dude destroyed the place at 8 o’clock. I was watching from the second floor looking down and I still got splashed with beer, and caught a glow stick to the side of the head. His set was fucking awesome. As always my favorites Uncle Jesse and Bird Peterson had awesome sets and during Uncle Jesse’s set we were able to capture this GEM on stage.
Oh my Heavens! A new photo shop Evan face to work with. I wonder what majestic animals I can put this face on? Either way, at some point this year Evan 2.0 should be a clothing line that is strictly made from photo shops. Choo Choo! Whut Up Ribs!
Sunday night I had to set my alarm to 8PM and still almost overslept just to get down to the Rock n Roll Hotel after going into rave recovery mode Sat night/Sun Morning. It was weird at first because H Street was a GHOST TOWN when I was walking down the sidewalk. I’m thinking aw shit, gonna be one of these nights. I was hella excited to play with the homies Starks, Nacey, and the SMUDGE. Turns out all of our friends and fam rolled through at like 10:30. Place was rammed out by 11 and we had to cut the lights on around 2 just to get people out. It was mad fun, but I was damn near crippled come Monday. Thank god it was a chill relaxing 4th of July on a DC rooftop watching the “Firetwerks”. I turn 30 on September 6th but after a couple days in a row of raging, it feels like I’m turning 50.

Just now got my legs under me after being a part of one of the most amazing events in my life, Starscape, Steez Promo is giving a proper follow up in our own backyard. FRIDAY, JUNE 17th another night for the memory books is going down at Ibiza with some of my all time favorite DJ’s. The only reason I ever got into DJing is because of Scottie B. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to be on the same bill with him.
The awesome people over at HIPSTER OVERKILL are getting in on the action as well. Uncle Jesse, Alvin Risk and I are going to be giving you the shit show rager that you had at Starscape.
My love for dubstep was reborn on Saturday after spending the majority of the night on the beach stage. Flux and Doctor P literally made the bridge shake with bass. At least thats what my mind was telling eyes (I cannot discuss further). What a treat to get them play in the main room at Ibiza. Alex, Ill take bass for a thousand.
